Searchlight Directing Station
Two searchlights were located at Fort Scratchley and a third at Nobbys and scanned the seas around Newcastle and its harbour.
These searchlights were used in the action against the Japanese submarine I-21 on 8th June 1942.
Although this position is now disused, the Fort has a fully working Searchlight in its military vehicle collection that is used from time to time.
